South Congress – SoCo

Congress Avenue is nicknamed “The Main Street of Texas.” South Congress is one of the most popular shopping destinations for tourists. The strip includes quirky stores with variety of clothing, toys and trinkets.

Co Star – The clothing boutique features premium brands for both men and women. Find the the best pair of jeans or the most flattering top for your loved ones.

Monkey See Monkey Do – Give the gift of laughter with cheeky books, silly toys, collectibles and gag gifts. This is one of the most popular novelty shops in Austin.

Uncommon Objects – Browse the incredible odds and ends at this antique store. From plates, to circus masks to lamps and beyond, there’s a vintage gift for anyone. If you’re in a rush, this is not the best option. You’ll want to spend hours wandering around!

Big Top Candy Shop –  Satisfy your friend’s sweet tooth with a gift from this classic candy store. Choose from 300 different kinds of bulk candy and 2,000 varieties of wrapped candy.

South 1st – So-Fi

Just a few blocks west of SoCo is the biggest Austin IBIZ District. South 1st Street includes nearly 100 locally-owned businesses. The funky, retro area features intimate boutiques, bakeries and specialty shops.

End of an Ear – The record store has a large selection of punk, indie, hip hop and classic rock records. Give an LP in near mint condition to your favorite musician.

Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop – Treat your foodie friends with the gift of cupcakes, macaroons and other pastries. This is one of my favorite bakeries in Austin. Make sure to shop early in the morning! The selection is picked over by the afternoon.

Secret Oktober – Browse the ultimate destination for all things Goth, punk and alternative. Find apparel, jewelry and accessories and anyone who likes to show their dark side.

Metier Cooks Supply – This shop sells high-end knives, cookbooks and vintage kitchen supplies. Give the gift of quality cookware for chefs and moms alike.

2nd Street

There are many upscale shops and boutiques deep in the heart of downtown. The modern environment on 2nd features fine apparel and home furnishings.

Mercury Design Studio – If you’re not on a budget, browse the eclectic furniture and home decor options. There is a great selection of funky ceramics, leather goods and design books.

Austin Rocks Music Store – This shrine to Austin music is one the treasures of Cap City. Delight music fans with music-themed clothing and accessories.

Luxe Apothetique – The chic salon offers high end beauty products and designer clothing. Find the perfect trendy gift for your fashionista friend.

Toy Joy – Discover the joy of play sets, games, trinkets and collectibles for all ages. The selection features an excellent mix of classic nostalgia and pop culture. Toy Joy is my favorite novelty shop in Austin.

Clarksville – West Lynn 

The Historic Clarksville District is located downtown between Loop 1 and Lamar Blvd. Many locally-owned business are nestled on West Lynn Street and the neighborhood around Lamar and Sixth.

Waterloo Records – Browse the vast selection at one Buzzfeed’s best record stores. The shop continually carries new releases and specializes in showcasing Texas artists.

ByGeorge – This classic clothing boutique carries designer brands and high end items. You’ll find sophisticated gifts for both men and women at this staple of local business.

El Interior – The clothing shop imports Mexican clothing, textiles and folk art. Discover authentic, hand-made gifts for both men and women.

Burnet

If you live in Central or North Austin, you’ll find many local businesses along Burnet Road. The district features boutiques, antique stores and collectibles shops.

ATown – The large boutique is the Austin gift mecca. Choose from men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, beauty products, home decor, baby items and more. The store features items from more than 100 local artists that you may not find anywhere else.

Turquoise Trading Post – Give the gift of vintage treasures with genuine Native American accessories. Browse hand-crafted jewelry, home decor and artifacts.

Lofty Dog – Don’t forget pets deserve presents too! The pet supply store offers healthy meal options , comfy bedding and unique toys for man’s best friend.
